HomeFreemasonryHow Do I Join?

How do I become a Freemason ?

Its that simple !

There are certain requirements, These are:

Be a man at least 21 years of age (Membership can be granted at 18 if applied for)

Be of good moral character

Have a personal belief in a Supreme Being (the definition of a Supreme Being is up to you)

Decide to become a Mason of "your own free will and accord"

Be loyal to your country

Dedicated to providing for your own family

Have a sincere determination to conduct yourself in a manner that will earn the respect and trust of others

Possess a desire to help others through community service and universal benevolence

For those who wish to pursue their interest in Freemasonry you should approach a fellow brother you know and express an interest in joining, we do not solicit for members therefore you must do the asking !

If you do not know any freemasons you should contact a lodge in your area, I am sure they will provide you with all the relevant information you require, For a list of lodges in Scotland visit The Grand Lodge Of Scotland, Their website is very informative and contains a breakdown of Scotland into regions and which lodges are located within these regions.

Upon requesting membership you will be supplied with a 'petition for membership' form which you should complete and return to the lodge, You will then be requested to meet with an enquiry committee regarding your application (this is not an interrogation, merely a way of getting to know you a little & a chance for you to ask any questions you may have).

Your petition will then be presented for a ballot, If successful you will be notified when next to attend the lodge for your initiation into Freemasonry.
