Freemasonry

What Is Freemasonry ?

It is the world’s oldest and largest fraternity (Often referred to as the ‘Craft’), It has approximately four million members worldwide from all walks of life. Its purpose is to promote the bonds of friendship, compassion and brotherly love, Politics has no role in it. Neither is it a religion as some would have you believe, but rather a friend and promoter of all religions which are based on the belief of One Supreme Being, Atheism and Masonry are not compatible. Regardless of their position in society, Freemasons meet as equals. One of the most fascinating aspects of Freemasonry has always been how so many men from so many different walks of life can meet together in peace, never discuss politics or engage in religious debates, conduct their affairs in harmony and friendship, and call each other “Brother”.

I have read in many sources on the internet that Freemasonry is a ‘secret society’, If this was indeed the case would you be reading this ? Masonic buildings are often decorated with signs & emblems of the craft, We regularly advertise in local press regarding lodge meetings & social events. We are not a secret society, We are a society with secrets.
The exact origins of Freemasonry have been lost in time, It is a topic of which there is a lot of speculation, It is never the less the oldest Fraternity in the world today. Its members have ranged from Kings, Presidents, Prime Ministers & Celebrities, Its influence has spread across the four corners of the globe and many a freemason has changed the course of history. Yet most people are perplexed by the craft which leads to speculation, misinformation and rumours, So don’t always believe what you hear from a ‘Non-Mason’ as it is most probably inaccurate information at best, Instead if curious about Freemasonry seek out a brother you know of, or ask your friends & family if they know a mason to whom you could talk with (you may be pleasantly surprised as to how many people you know are freemasons & you just didn’t know they were), alternatively contact a lodge in your area and I am sure they will be more than happy to assist you.
If you feel uncomfortable approaching anyone about your curiosity in Masonry feel free to email me and I will try my best to assist you in anyway I can.
